On Thursday and Friday we went to English camp for 4 – 6 grade
at another school for all of the kids in the districts of Taphan Hin and Bang
Mun Nak. We had a really great time singing songs and doing dances. It was nice
to see the kids get out of their shells for once. Sometimes they seem so shy
and introverted.
On Saturday, I went to learn Thai dance. I have to say I was
unimpressed. It doesn’t seem inspired or even that interesting frankly. See

Then on Sunday, Zoe, Mariah (another volunteer), and I
tutored at the library. Then at around 3, a bunch of volunteers came to the
pool and we just hung out and had a good time. It was so much fun to just get
away from everything and speak English! Without slowing down!
So far: sunburned and bug bitten but alive.
Now let’s talk about something that legitimately runs my
entire life. Food.
What do we eat? EVERYTHING. When do we eat? ALL THE TIME. I’ve
never experienced so much food.
We eat curries and soups and fried meats and rice and
noodles and fruits and fruits and fruits.
Let me introduce you to some of the fruits.
Rambutan:
Mildly delicious, pain to eat. There's this seed on the inside, and if you're not careful bits of it come off with the fruit
Dragon Fruit:
Bland. Bland. Bland. But refreshing
Mangosteen:
Yum x1238209
Thai Banana:
They eat them hot, cold, and dried. Interestingly they have a large pit in them.
Long:
These are my favorite. They're really juicy and sweet and kind of taste like lychees. Their seeds, however, are the nastiest things I've ever accidentally bitten.
Custard Apple:
So bizarre. You can't eat the skin. The inside is like jello, hence the name custard. So strange, so strange...
Let me know if there's anything you guys want to hear about in particular!
